Pets As Therapy Read2Dogs goes online!

Cate Archer

Doug the Pug Therapy Dog was delighted that his recent online work, during lockdown, helped to secure a fantastic grant of £100,000 for Pets As Therapy. This has enabled many other Pets As Therapy volunteer duos, like us, to go on and provide this valuable resource to children whilst helping them regain confidence in their learning and build on a love of reading. The Pets As Therapy READ2DOGS programme has been one that Doug’s enjoyed for over 9 1/2 years in his time as a PAT dog! Top marks hey! And well done to the National Lottery Coronavirus Community Support Fund and The Government Office for Civil Society, Department for Digital Culture, Media & Sport, for recognising this great need. We’re delighted that many children can now continue to enjoy their love of book and positivity with learning. This will aid their intellectual, social and emotional development, during isolation, whilst reading to their favourite dogs online.

We would be delighted to entice new volunteers to come forward and join this wonderful new safe and exciting virtual scheme.
